Recipe: Monkey Bread

This is a recipe from my childhood. The kids (and any adults who happen to be nearby) can't get enough of them. Preheat oven at 350* F. Ingredients 3 - cans of refrigerated biscuits 1 - stick of butter (or 8tbs / half cup of butter substitute) 1/2 - cup of granulated sugar 1/2 - cup of brown sugar 1 - tbs of cinnamon Instructions Open the cans and separate the biscuits Heat up a saucepan and melt butter Cut biscuits into quarters Stir sugar and cinnamon into melted butter until fully melted and incorporated Place biscuits into an oven safe dish and pour butter mixture all over Bake in oven at 350 until top is browned and crunchy, approx 35 minutes I do like a glass baking dish for these But they're also fun in a bundt pan, so the inside can get crispy, too, and they look pretty when they're turned out. Product Comparison - Kodiak Cakes vs Aunt Maple's

When I was making my last grocery order, I noticed that Aldi is now selling protein pancake mix. It seemed like fate, as I knew I had some existing mix in the cupboard AND my new Dash mini waffle maker had just been delivered. I did check some online reviews for the Aunt Maple's and they were decidedly mixed. The best way to try out the new waffle maker is with waffle mix (though that's about the last thing I cook in my waffle irons, usually, but that is a post for another day), and the best way to try out new protein mix is with a taste test and macro check! Going head to head: Kodiak Cakes and Aunt Maple's protein packed pancake and waffle mix. First off: Macro check The serving sizes are different between the two products, 53 grams vs 61g, so I decided to go with 53 for both. I have been seeing a lot of advertisements for Jordan's Skinny Mixes , low or no calorie syrups. I signed up for their mailing list with the idea that I would order some soon. Recipe: Drunken Dreamcicle Gummy Worms

My Mom gave me the basic recipe and I went all out with tweaking it. Definitely a big hit with my friends, just trying to see who will just eat it and who will be too grossed out. Ingredients: Orange Sugar Free Jello Mix - 1 package (6oz) Unflavored gelatin - 1 package (6oz) Boiling water - 2 cups Vanilla vodka - 1 cup Heavy/Whipping Cream - 3/4 cup Food coloring - various Slinky/Bendy Straws - 100 or so Tall containers Mix the flavored and unflavored gelatin in a bowl Add boiling water and stir After gelatin dissolves, add vodka Open package of straws and extend all of them Once mixture stops steaming, mix in cream Add drops of various food colors until you see a brownish-earthworm-color appear Put the straws into a container that keeps them packed very tightly, some people use a cardboard milk carton, I personally used an Italian Soda Glass, with the squiggly side facing downward (use rubberbands and/or a foil funnel, whatever you gotta do) Pour jello mixture into the straws Let mi

Unboxing: Garden Canning

Usually, I write about and review technology related products and subjects. I decided to break with tradition and do an unboxing review of... gardening and canning produce. My Mom has slowly turned her large yard into a huge garden bed and always makes sure to grow and preserve all of our favorites for us. My sister and BIL and my sons and I all help out when we can, but I do like knowing that Mom has a hobby that keeps her active and healthy (and saving on her lawn maintenance fees). I have to admit, I have never seen the movie Big Night (1996, I was too busy being an annoying teenager with my nose in a book while listening to industrial music), BUT I have definitely heard of the Timpano thing that they made. Recipe - Maple Bourbon Pecan French Toast

Since I did the written and video review of the Jordan's Skinny Mixes , I have used them in coffees a lot. And I also made an icy pina colada. But, it occurred to me, that I could probably use the syrups in cooking as well. Keep reading for 3 easy recipes.
