Recipe: Baked Brie and ham rolls

This one is pretty easy, to reach total decadence with your appetizers.

Ingredients:

  • Brie - 1 wheel
  • Bacon - diced
  • Cabbage - roughly chopped, approx 1 cup uncooked
  • Onion - Roughly chopped
  • Puff pastry - 1 package (2 sheets)
  • Ham slices
  • Shredded cheddar cheese
  • Egg

Direction:

  • Set puff pastry out to thaw
  • Preheat oven to 350*F
  • Dice up bacon, cabbage and onion and cook in a pan until soft and fragrant
  • Slice wheel of Brie across its width, line the exposed cheese with the onions, bacon and cabbage and put back together like a sandwich
  • Mix egg and a little water together and mix until blended well
  • Lay brie in the center of a defrosted square of puff pastry and form around until smooth
  • Place on pan and brush with egg wash
  • Lay second puff pastry sheet out and roll until thin
  • Sprinkle with shredded cheddar to a desired thickness
  • Lay thin slices of ham across evenly
  • Roll up the puff pastry/cheese/ham
  • Slice into equal pieces (I did 14, you might to more or less, depending on how far you rolled out your pastry)
  • Place slices on a baking sheet with at least 1" of space between them
  • Bake until browned (approx 15min)

Before serving the Brie wheel, you will want to let it cool, so it doesn't ooze all over the place too much.

The ham and cheese wheels are even kind of good eaten while cold. I don't judge.
